We find ourselves at a seminal moment. Probably THE most important in generations. We’re starting our second month of a strike to finally fix problems in our contract that just can’t stand anymore. Our UNITY and solidarity have been 100% solid. No cracks of any kind. This complete solidarity is the backbone to us getting the deal we deserve.

One small hiccup though. The US Government insists that we have an election AT THIS EXACT TIME.

You may or may not know that over the decades there have been two political Parties within SAG-AFTRA. With many separate and distinct different philosophy’s regarding many facets of how the Union operate, as well as what constitutes a fair equitable contract.

We are witnessing an amazing meeting of the minds, when it comes to this current TV/Theatrical Contract. This current Negotiating Committee (made up of old veterans like myself [9 negotiations] and many brand-new faces) has been 100% rock solid when it comes to standing up to the AMPTP and refusing to leave that negotiation until we get everything we need. You guys would be so impressed and proud.

So, we were left with a problem… Because we’re being forced to have an election at this exact moment… What should we do? Well… We’ve done what many believed to be THE impossible. Both MembershipFirst and Unite for Strength have decided to come together in this election and run a mutual slate of candidates. Under the banner UNITY2023.

NOTHING should or WILL distract us from our mission… To get a contract that will set the industry standard for years to come.

I’ve been a member of SAG AFTRA and now SAG-AFTRA for 55 years. You guys have honored me for these past 27 years to be your representative in our boardrooms. I’m beyond inspired seeing everyone understanding the issues at hand and being out on the picket lines by the thousands… telling the Studios and Streamers that “we’re mad as hell… And were not going to take it anymore.
